Why did you decide to train as a teacher?
When I look back to my time in school, I remember those 'Eureka!' moments of understanding that inspired me to further my education in Science. Seeing others have these is just as rewarding an experience. As a teacher, I get to have these 'Eureka!' moments every day.
Why did you choose to train with the University of York?
UoY is a highly revered institution for PGCE training, with exceptional links to local schools, community and the National Science Learning Centre.
What have been particular highlights of your training so far?
Subject enhancement activities at the National Science Learning Centre have really empowered me as a practitioner of Science.
What advice would you give to current University of York undergraduates in your subject area who are thinking of teaching and considering doing their training at York?
Do not be fooled by the opinion that teaching is easy. The course is incredibly intense, as is the profession. However, the rewards couldn't be higher. After all, how many of you would have studied Science without an inspirational Science teacher?
