Currently chair of York SACRE and Improvement Consultant for Culham St Gabriel’s Trust, as a Head of RE in York for the last 10 years, I am passionate about outstanding RE at all levels – from primary RE to good CPD for all RE professionals. A Farmington Fellow (2011), my areas of expertise include enquiry based RE, AfL and RE, Coaching and Literacy in RE.
RE is both academic and personal and good teaching in RE fulfils these two purposes with rigour and with sensitivity. At the heart of RE there are the aims of exploring beliefs, the impact of these on people’s lives and the expression of opinions. It is crucial to continue to research and develop the pedagogies and resources that aid the teaching of this kind of excellent RE.
