The PE meetings are run by Nick Turnbull from Manor CE Academy and Eddie Popple from All Saints School.
I have been in teaching for thirteen years and having started at Manor CE Academy as an NQT, I am now in the role of Director of Learning for Physical Education overseeing delivery of quality PE to the students. I have experience of delivering GCSE PE and core PE programmes, mentoring future PE teachers through several different initial teacher training courses and have been thoroughly involved in York School Sport through providing extra-curricular opportunities for the students of Manor. I am excited to be working as part of the Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance to enhance the knowledge, skills and effectiveness of Physical Education teaching and learning in the city.
Business is a subject that is widely taken as a KS4 & 5 option across many schools and one that is increasingly relevant in a fast changing and competitive globalised world. I passionately believe that it is essential that teaching colleagues are effectively supported, particularly in the face of forthcoming curriculum change. New content and assessment methods introduced from September onwards presents an opportunity, however, to refresh and enliven delivery and I would wish to establish a collaborative ethos where teachers benefit from my role as being a first point of contact as well as a source of advice on a sustained and regular basis. The sharing of expertise and learning and teaching resources across schools benefitting students of all ability levels across York is a clear priority and I would wish to foster a culture where teachers genuinely learn and benefit from each other’s strengths.
