I have been a teacher of Geography for 18 years, initially at Easingwold School in North Yorkshire and then at my present school, Huntington in York. I became Subject Leader of Geography in 2001 and have experienced a lot of National Curriculum and specification changes over the last 14 years, which I have led the development of in my own department as well as across York’s other secondary schools. In 2013, I became an SLE with a Geography specialism and I am currently engaged in supporting a number of departments across Yorkshire in improving their teaching and learning. As part of this role I have also led the Geography Subject Leaders training for City of York Council and have facilitated termly training events.
My main area of expertise is in teaching and learning. I am a Teacher Coach at my own school and part of a team who lead whole staff development. I am currently also Acting Assistant Head and act as Professional Mentor to our trainee teachers and lead the NQT development programme.
I am very much looking forward to working with Pathfinder and a wider network of teachers to further improve teaching and learning and get the best possible outcomes for our young people.
